Beautycounter is a skincare and makeup company whose mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. It wasn’t until I became pregnant with my daughter that I began to really pay attention to the ingredients in my beauty products. While I, of course, wanted to only buy and use products that were safe, I quickly found that task to be so very daunting and hard to accomplish as there is a sea of beauty products to choose from, many claiming to be “all natural” when in fact they were far from it. I would often feel overwhelmed and at a loss when shopping for products – and my sweet husband was always so patient with me when it would take me 10 minutes to pick out shampoo.

I am excited that there is a company that is seeking to change the current health and safety standards of the beauty industry. I am excited that I can now purchase quality, chemical-free products with peace of mind for myself and my family (yes – they have baby and kids products too!). From Beautycounter’s website:

“The United States has not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938.

Over the past two decades, the European Union has banned more than 1,300 chemicals in the product formulas of personal care products and restricted the levels of over 250 more in such products. The United States has only partially banned 30 to date.

We deserve better, and we’re doing something about it.

At Beautycounter, we’re committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what’s required by U.S. law: We’ve banned the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through our “Never List”—all while ensuring our products perform and that they’re as indulgent as any other luxe shampoo, lipstick, or oil in the market.”
